Appleby's Achieve Gold at the World Cheese Awards

The Appleby family were delighted with the success and Paul Appleby commented, “We feel that Appleby’s Double Gloucester is delivering a consistent depth of flavour and we are pleased that this has been recognised at these prestigious awards.”

Appleby’s Double Gloucester is made by hand using unpasteurised milk from the Appleby’s cows. It is made with a traditional recipe and is calico bound.  The cheese has a rich and nutty yet mellow flavour with a smooth buttery texture.

The World Cheese Awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, were held in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Cheese were entered from 34 different countries. There were 150 judges from 24 countries. Cheese awarded Gold were tasted a second time by an international jury of 13 experts from 10 different countries. Over the 2 days of the Festival, 15,000 consumers visited to taste and experience cheese.

Appleby’s Double Gloucester has just launched, alongside Appleby’s Cheshire and a selection of other artisan cheeses into Marks and Spencer.
