Triple Success for Appleby's at the International Cheese Awards

It is proving to be a good Summer for the Appleby family; after winning two trophies at the Cheshire Show they have now collected another trophy at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich and two Gold Awards.

The Daresbury Cup is awarded for the Champion Farmhouse Cheshire Cheese from the Cheshire Dairy Farmers Association. It is a real accolade to win this award at the largest cheese awards in the world. Two Gold Awards were won for the Coloured Farmhouse/ Traditional Cheshire Cheese and for the Best Dressed Farmhouse/ Traditional Cheshire.

The successes were made even better by the fact that the Appleby family were being filmed for a series of 'The Hairy Bikers' that is being shown on BBC2 this Autumn. Filming had taken place at Hawkstone Abbey Farm a week earlier and then the family were being followed to the Awards. Hopefully the successes will make an interesting episode for viewers.

Christine Appleby said; "It was a really good day for us as a family. We have been bringing our cheese to this event in Nantwich for many years; Appleby's Cheshire has remained the same since 1952 and we are very pleased to still be taking home trophies to the farm. We hope that we have provided enough interesting filming for 'The Hairy Bikers Show' and nervously wait to see how the episode comes together!"
